Cooking a dinner-party roast, holiday turkey, or backyard-barbecue pork loin to precisely the proper temperature without fuss is a snap with this thermometer. You can even monitor two foods (beef and lamb, for instance) simultaneously, since two stainless-steel probes are included, each 6 inches long and each connected to a 39-inch stainless-steel wire. Here's how it works: program the tool (two AA batteries included) by selecting either "beef," "veal," "lamb," "pork," "chicken," or "turkey." Then program to rare, medium-rare, medium, or well-done. The monitor displays the proper temperature--which can be altered by pressing a button. Place the probe into, say, a turkey. Run the wire from the oven and close the door. (Door should remain closed until turkey is done so oven temperature doesn't vary.) Plug the wire into the monitor, and open the monitor's built-in stand. Set the clock to the current time. (Remember, two probes can be used simultaneously for different foods, with the monitor programmed separately for each.) The monitor constantly displays the turkey's internal temperature and elapsed cooking time. (The timer can be used independently of thermometer.) When the turkey reaches the selected temperature, an alarm sounds. Meanwhile, hook the pager (two AA batteries included) to your belt or drop it into your pocket. The pager beeps when the monitor's alarm sounds and works up to 75 feet away, liberating the cook from the kitchen. The probes can also be plugged into the pager, which displays a food's temperature on its LCD screen. I was so excited to get this device. Each year I cook a Prime Rib - (bone in). My family really like it rare. Unfortunately I had bad probes or 1 bad probe. 1 of the probes was anywhere from7' to 23' off from the other probe. The company was great is sending me 2 new probes, but that was after cooking this special Xmas dinner, so check out the probes before using them. |

Maverick Remote read Thermometer a dissappointment |

This unit is suppossed to have a range of 100 feet but loses communication with nothing but open air between transmitter and receiver at 50 to 75 feet. Nice features on the receiver but My main reason for purchase was the remote capability, which does not work well. I believe my wireless router for the computer may be the cause, but that should have been taken into account in the design of the unit. A stronger transmitter or better receiver would make this into a 5 star unit. |

Perfect Meat Thermometer |

It is very convenient to be able to BBQ one item and roast another@ the same time in different locations. When you know what the temps are, you don't have to waste heat constantly checking on it. Only downside is, the temp lags just a little bit.If you want your meat RARE, subtract 5-10 degrees until you're used to it. It can always be cooked more...Otherwise, am thrilled with it, glad I bought it!! |

Not good for Rotisserie |

Purchased to keep track of the Turkey on our grill's rotisserie. Since the probes have to connect to a box that cannot be inside the grill cover, would have had to figure out a way to attach to the rotisserie mechanism. Too much work so returned. |

Not terrible |

Worked great for a few months. I used this on a smoker and liked the idea of having two probes, one for the meat and one to measure the actual temperature inside the smoker. I had a few things come out a little over done, so I put both probes in a glass of water. One of the probes measured 8 degrees more than the other. 8 degrees might not seem like much, but it is the difference between medium and leather. |
