Customer Reviews for  'O, The Oprah Magazine (1-year)'

This is just not the magazine for me
I enjoy an occasional Oprah show. I am impressed with her generosity as a human being. However, this is not the magazine for me. It contains too many advertisements and rip-out cards. The subject matter is not interesting to me. I ordered this magazine for a year at just the cost of $2.00 for shipping. I think it was a waste of $2.00. I won't be renewing my subscription.

O... as in Oy Vey
I've never really, truly hated a magazine before, but this is it. You go to all kinds of trouble to go past the dizzying array of ads to find the one article snuggled in between, and it's either horribly skewed/one sided, poorly researched, or just darn boring. I'd flip through it between the mailbox and the side door to the house, then throw it away as soon as I got in the door. Save a tree and avoid this lousy mag.

Why did I take Greene's advice?
I love Oprah's show, but I remember show after show of Oprah and Bob Greene telling us how to lose weight, what to eat,how to workout, and look whats happened to Oprah over and over again. The worst thing for your health is to go up and down like Oprah has over the last 20 years.
I know its hard,I've been over 350 pounds, and unlike Oprah,I was a heavy kid and teen.
Here's my FREE advice-You MUST do the treadmill at least 30mins. a day.(Another tip,When your on the treadmill, have over 30mins.of your favorite songs ever on your I pod,you will not believe how fast 30mins will last,so have at least 40mins of great music )Also, try and workout in the morning. This is when you have the high energy .Next,You MUST eat breakfeast, but not a big one, just Cereal, and maybe one piece of wheat toast.
For lunch, eat a Salad or something small, and then a small dinner untill you reach your goal, and when you reach your goal, set a weight that you MUST NOT GO OVER,and when you do go over, start this diet again. My over weight number is 199,then I panic, and diet untill I'm under 197.
I love your show Oprah, and you have the guts by telling everyone you have gone over 200pounds again, but PLEASE,NO MORE.Your killing yourself by this up and down weight.Lossing weight is not hard, keeping it off is.My diet has kept my weight under 200 for over 15year.

It Is The Best

Take a survey of the one magazine that most of your friends read and ten to one it will be 'Oprah'. Over the years I have subscribed to almost every magazine, highbrow and lowbrow, and the one magazine that is always on my list for myself and for gifts is 'Oprah'. I was browsing through Shoppreview's list of magazines to see what was new and exciting and guess what? Nothing comes close. My sister, my two daughters and friends- yep, it is classy, full of interesting and informative articles, and has the low down on books and beauty and every month we get Oprah's picks!

I eagerly await each month's Oprah magazine. The photography is brilliant, glossy and glowing in each picture. Oprah interviews exciting and down to earth people- people that we want to meet. Some of these people give their top book picks each month. Luscious recipes come written by someone who has wit and good food in mind. Dr Phil gives his advice- sometimes I skip over this part- there is just so much Dr Phil I can take! New products in beauty and how to use them. Susie Orman gives her financial advice and then we see what is new in the world of jewelry or clothes and see just how much money we could spend! Little interesting tidbits are tucked here and there. Advice articles on love or marriage given by experts, and how to become a more fulfilled person. Nothing is spared here, up to date informative and outrageous information. A magazine to be savored in many cases and to share with friends.

Highly recommended. prisrob 12-14-08

Can we change the cover?
I like the magazine format and features because I like Oprah and her shows and her philosophy of life and of entertainment. The articles are short and to the point and varied; you don't need hours to finish an article to get the idea. The magazine is glossy and entertaining posing also some interesting thought provoking questions. Some of it also invites you to reflect on some serious issues. The one thing that turns me off however, is that it features Oprah on every cover. It seems a bit self indulgent and self adoring. It doesn't go with what she appears to personify on her shows and public persona.
