Everything is good with this one...except that the volume is shutting itself down slowly after 1 minute, does anyone know the reason... |

Didn't work out of the box |
|
I can't tell you how good the sound or the video is, all I can say is that the dvd unit didn't even turn on out of the box, and there was nothing I could do, since I live in Venezuela the item arrived about 4 months after I ordered it so neither amazon or the courier made themselves responsibles for the unit, so for me the home theater is just another box in the trash can. |

Great System For the Price |
After much research I decided to go with this system mainly because I felt it had the most features for the smallest price. I've owned it for about a month now and I don't regret the purchase at all. As others have said, the only draw back to the system is the fact that the speaker wires are hard wired into the back of the speakers. But that didn't really present a problem for me because there was plenty of wire to accommodate my small living room. In short, if you are in the market for a simple, economic upgrade to your sound this is the product for you. You won't find a better deal with all the features of this product!
Pros:
-Price
-Features
Ipod dock (controllable with remote)
1000 watts of power (loud enough to annoy the neighbors)
Plenty of inputs and easy to connect
All-in-all works very well
Cons:
Speakers are hard wired
DVD Trey is a little flimsy

Phillips Delivers! Great Sound, Easy to Use |
I bought this for $130 manufacturer re-certified off ebay. My review is based on that price.
This is a fantastic unit. It is extremely easy to set-up. I had it pumping after about 45 minutes of set-up, including wall mounting the two satellites. The remote is fairly intuitive, as is most of the internal set-up. Make sure the DVD player is not playing when you want to set the speaker volume. (Turn up the rear speakers for a better surround experience).
The sound is excellent. Crisp and clear for movies, but really cooks for those dramatic scores and screeching action (X-Men movies look and sound great!), the bass provides a little thunder (but will not really thump - its passive, so your room will not rattle) and it maintains integrity loud. I have it at about half power, and that rocks my socks off.
The upconversion makes a little difference, but most new Hidef tvs already internally upconvert, so it doesn't blow your mind. The Ipod dock is awesome and you can control your ipod from across the room with the remote - very useful for skipping songs or changing playlists.
As noted, it takes annoyingly long for the DVD tray to open, but besides that, this system is great and a great value in a box.
One con and a lost star has to do with switching between modes - it takes too long. At first, you end up hitting buttons twice and turning things off you meant to turn on - but all in all, i love this system and can't stop watching things in surround sound! And you can hook it up to hidef cable and all your shows are surround sound! Even my arrested developement DVDs look and sound great! |

I love it! |
|
It was fairly easy to install. The price is right. The sound is great. I did have to buy an extra cord. I forgot what that cord is called but it's the one with red, white, and yellow connectors on each end. Anyway I mainly use it to watch DVDs and haven't tried the Ipod feature but to watch DVDs & to listen to music it's great. It's kind of annoying switching from radio to disc w/o a remote (it was a lot easier to switch back & forth on my old boombox) but w a remote you are fine. I recommend buying this. |
